Grass-cutter charged with obstructing policeman from discharging official duty

IPOH,. A grass-cutter was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with obstructing a policeman from discharging his official duty and causing him hurt on the head with a crash helmet.

P. Subramaniam, 48, however, pleaded not guilty to both charges, which were read out separately before Magistrate Noor Azreen Liana Mohd Darus.

He was charged with obstructing Sergeant Mohd Zainudin Mohd Jidin by refusing to produce his identity card when requested by the policeman.

Subramaniam was also charged with voluntarily causing hurt on Mohd Zainudin by hitting the policeman on the head with a crash helmet.

Both the offences were allegedly committed in an area at Jalan Sungai Pari, near Flat Harmoni here, at about 3.15 pm last Tuesday (Jan 12).

The court allowed him bail of RM4,000 with one surety and set Feb 18 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor K. Darinee prosecuted, while lawyer Ranjit Singh represented Subramaniam.
